Ali Urza, Peter Weisberg, and myself have a new paper in Ecological Applications

Ali Urza is the lead author on the new paper "Evidence of widespread topoclimatic limitation for lower treelines of the Intermountain West, USA". This paper maps lower treelines across the Intermountain West of the US (between the Pacific Crest and the Continental Divide) and determines whether climate, substrate, or land use is constraining the extent of lower treelines. I would highly encourage you to take a look at Ali's paper. It is a great read and brings attention to lower treelines as a major ecotone in dry regions throughout the world.
